We collect only the personal data necessary to facilitate matrimonial matchmaking, ensure member authenticity, and maintain platform security.
Basic Identity & Contact Information
- Full Name & Gender: To create and personalise your matrimonial profile and match with compatible partners.
- Date of Birth & Age: To calculate age, enforce statutory minimum age limits (≥ 18 years), and match age preferences.
- Email Address & Mobile Number: For authentication, OTP login, critical service updates, and account recovery.
Matrimonial Profile & Heritage Data
- Religion, Caste & Subcaste: Required for cultural and religious matchmaking preferences common in Indian marriages.
- Mother Tongue & Languages Spoken: For linguistic compatibility.
- Marital Status: (Never Married, Divorced, Widowed, Awaiting Divorce) To ensure transparency.
- Height & Physical Attributes: For profile presentation and physical preference matching.
- Education, Occupation & Annual Income: To highlight career background and enable lifestyle matching.
- Horoscope Details (Optional): Gotra, Rashi, Nakshatra/Star, Manglik/Dosham status, Time and Place of birth for members who seek astrological compatibility.
Family Background Data
- Family Type & Values: (Nuclear/Joint; Traditional/Moderate/Liberal).
- Parents' Occupations & Sibling Count: To provide customary family context.
- Ancestral Origin / Native Place: For community heritage matching.
Photographs & Verification Documents
- Profile Photographs & Video Intros: Uploaded voluntarily to introduce yourself to prospective matches.
- Government ID & Verification Selfies: Submitted voluntarily for identity verification (e.g., Aadhaar / Govt ID card / Selfie verification). Government ID documents are stored in secure, private encrypted storage buckets with restricted access and are never shared publicly.
In-App Activity & Communication Records
- Match Interactions: Interests sent, interests received, accepted connections, shortlists, and rejected profiles.
- In-App Messages: Real-time encrypted chat messages exchanged between mutually connected members.
- Trust & Safety Data: User reports, block actions, and grievance submissions.
Technical & Device Data
- IP Address, Device Model & OS: For session security, fraud prevention, and device binding.
- Log Timestamps: Login history and security telemetry.
Purposes of Processing
We process your personal data strictly for specified, lawful purposes:
- 1Matrimonial Matchmaking: Running recommendation algorithms, scoring compatibility, and presenting suitable partner profiles.
- 2Communication Facilitation: Enabling mutual interest expressions, chat sessions, and connection notifications.
- 3Trust & Verification: Authenticating profiles, verifying identities, and displaying Trust Badges to minimize fake profiles.
- 4Safety & Fraud Prevention: Detecting impersonation, commercial solicitation, harassment, spam, and malicious behavior.
- 5Customer Support & Grievance Redressal: Resolving member complaints under Rule 3(2) of the IT Rules, 2021.
- 6Statutory Compliance: Complying with Indian court orders, law enforcement notices, and applicable tax laws.
Age & Minor Protection
- Strict Age Gating: Under the DPDP Act, 2023 (Section 9) and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, MyHumsafar is strictly intended for adult individuals seeking marriage.
- Minors Under 18 are Strictly Prohibited: We do not knowingly collect, process, or track data from individuals under 18 years of age.
- Date of birth validation is enforced both client-side and server-side at registration.
Privacy Controls & Granular Settings
You have direct control over your profile visibility via Settings → Privacy Settings:
- 1Hide Photo until Interest Accepted: Keeps your profile photographs hidden or blurred until you explicitly accept an interest from another member.
- 2Hide from Contacts: Prevents members whose phone numbers exist in your phone book from discovering your profile.
- 3Incognito Mode: Allows eligible premium members to browse profiles anonymously without appearing in "Who Viewed Me" logs.
Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosures
We never sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies. Personal data is shared only under strict safeguards with:
- 1Other Registered Members: According to your profile visibility and privacy settings.
- 2Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Secure enterprise servers and encrypted object storage for hosting the Platform.
- 3Payment Aggregators (RBI-Authorised): Razorpay / Cashfree for processing subscription payments securely. We do not store complete card numbers or UPI PINs on our servers.
- 4Law Enforcement & Legal Authorities: Disclosed only when strictly mandated by valid summons, court orders, or statutory legal obligations under Indian law.
Cross-Border Data Transfers
Personal data is primarily stored and processed on secure cloud servers located in India. In the event of cross-border transfers for technical infrastructure, such transfers comply strictly with the provisions and whitelist notifications issued under Section 16 of the DPDP Act, 2023.
Data Security & Retention
- Security Safeguards: We implement industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS 1.3), encryption at rest (AES-256), strict Row Level Security (RLS) database policies, and least-privilege administrative access.
- Retention Period: We retain your personal data only as long as your account is active or as necessary to fulfill matrimonial matchmaking purposes.
- Upon Account Deletion: When you delete your account, your profile, photos, chat history, and match records are permanently deleted from active production databases. Limited transaction records required by Indian financial and tax laws are retained for statutory retention periods.
Your Data Principal Rights (DPDP Act, 2023)
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you are entitled to the following statutory rights:
- 1Right to Access Information (Section 11): Request a summary of your personal data processed by MyHumsafar.
- 2Right to Correction & Erasure (Section 12): Request correction of inaccurate/misleading data or erasure of data no longer required for the purpose it was collected.
- 3Right of Grievance Redressal (Section 13): Lodge a grievance with our Grievance Officer regarding data handling.
- 4Right to Nominate (Section 14): Nominate any individual to exercise data rights in the event of death or incapacity.
